I’m Tom, Head of IT at a telecoms business where I’ve spent nearly 8 years across a few different roles. Starting out in development, moving into management, and now leading the IT function.
Most of what I do sits somewhere between the technical and the business side of things. I’m not a developer, but I can build things that work and more importantly I care about whether they actually make a difference to the people using them. A lot of my recent focus has been on Power Platform - finding out what’s genuinely possible for small to medium businesses without needing a full development team behind you.
Honestly writing isn’t really my thing - I’m much more at home building something than writing about it. But this blog exists because I think it’s worth doing for my own reference, I write things down so I can find them again. Partly it keeps me honest, if I’m going to write about something it forces me to learn best practices and to make sure it works. And partly I hope it’s useful to others in similar roles who are trying to figure out what’s possible.
You’ll also find me at Power Platform community events, mostly learning, occasionally asking questions. If something here is useful, or you’re working through something similar, feel free to message me and connect.
